 About Us

Mission Who I AM is a Christian ministry

of The Gate DC, designed to especially benefit:

1) People who are questioning who they are, and

growing towards alignment with the LGBTQ+ community,

2) People who are currently part of the LGBTQ+ community,

3) People who have chosen to leave the LGBTQ+ community.

Since its inception in 2025, Mission Who I AM has been a

Christ-centered truth-based ministry that seeks to

love and support individuals, without

affirming the LGBTQ+ lifestyle.

“. . . unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone" (John 12:24a).

The name, Mission Who I AM, points people to the question Jesus asked His disciples in Matthew 16:15 (“who do you say that I am?”), and highlights God’s own name “I AM” (Exod. 3:14; John 8:58). At the same time, the name Mission Who I AM is also designed to invite people who have questioned their identity to find their true identity in their relationship with Christ and in God’s original design for the core of their being. None of us will properly understand our true identity until we properly answer the question about Jesus’s true identity, as Peter did: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:16). The dual invitation (to know who Jesus is and who you are) is available to everyone, so in that sense ‘all are welcome.’ However, if anyone wants to experience the true life and freedom that God intended (John 10:10; Gal. 5:1), surrendering to God’s way of life is a necessary step (Luke 9:24). Although the culture and church can too often overlook the need for self-sacrifice amongst disciples of Christ, this concept is shown in Mark 8:34 and John 12:24-26: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24). The best way to learn who we are, is to follow Him. Jesus came to us so we could come to Him.  Let's follow Him together!

“. . . but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24b).
